River Paintings

2019

In 2019, I decided to lighten the palette, as well as try to move away from the rectangle format. This change in format is influenced by the shaped leaf paintings that I did in winter. The painting surface does not buckle with water so I can layer wet paint with ease. The work has shrunk from  earlier years with no painting measuring over 35" long or wider than 17". This is due to problems of working in plein air such as the difficulty in carrying, large boards for support while managing wind which can sometimes kink the mylar.
